Corporation awards US$10,000 to UGM

YOGYAKARTA (JP): The Gajah Mada University's (UGM) school of engineering was awarded US$10,000 by the Schlumberger Stichting corporation on Wednesday.

The donation was delivered by the president of Schlumberger Stichting for Indonesia, Salm El Sayed, to university rector Ichlasul Amal.

The international company, which operates in over 100 countries, has allocated US$40,0000 to US$50,000 a year for several universities in Indonesia.

"That excludes the scholarship given to about 10 Indonesian students each year," Gatot Sam, employee service manager of Schlumberger Oilfield Service Asia, said.

This year the fund goes to universities such as state-owned Surabaya Institute of Sciences (ITS), the Institute of Technology (ITB) in Bandung and Gajah Mada University. (swa/edt)
