Corporate governance online

JAKARTA (JP): A private corporate governance watchdog unveiled on Tuesday a service on its website for companies to assess their corporate governance.

Eddie M. Gunawan, acting chairman of the Forum for Corporate Governance in Indonesia (FCGI), said their corporate self- assessment checklist service was aimed at helping companies to examine how well they had implemented good corporate governance.

The forum had sent out invitations to 309 publicly listed companies to fill in the questionnaire available on the www.fcgi.or.id

By answering the questionnaire, the companies could examine the soundness of the corporate governance implemented in their respective organizations.

"We hope, from the answers that we receive, we would be able to create a general view of how comprehensive good corporate governance is being implemented in the companies," he said, adding that he hoped more than 60 percent of the companies would respond by next month.

He said the results of the survey would be distributed to the public through the media.

FCGI was formed by 10 local business associations, which were concerned with the promotion of good corporate governance in the country. (tnt)
