Cop investigated for shooting
JAKARTA: A police officer has been named a suspect in a shooting at a bar in the Royal Legal Hotel on Jl. Tamansari in Mangga Besar, West Jakarta, on Sunday afternoon.
The head of the Jakarta Police's internal affairs, Sr. Comr. Irawan Dahlan, said on Monday the suspect was identified as a second brigadier assigned to National Police Headquarters.
"Our questioning has not yet revealed the mental state of the suspect or whether he was drunk at the time of the shooting," he said.
The West Jakarta Police reported the plainclothes officer fired a single shot from his gun after a waiter ignored his request to play a Malaysian song on the bar's karaoke machine.
Police said the gun was loaded with rubber bullets and that no one was injured in the incident. -- JP
