Cooler heads prevail in House-AGO dispute

JAKARTA: House of Representative Speaker Agung Laksono said on Sunday a dispute between the House and the Attorney General's Office had cooled down.

He said the dispute between House members and officials from the Attorney General's Office was the result of a simple miscommunication.

"Both sides have apologized," he said during a visit to Batam.

The row began on Thursday during a hearing in the House when a legislator from the Reform Star Party depicted Attorney General Abdul Rachman Saleh as "an Islamic preacher in a village of thieves".

The officials from the Attorney General's Office attending the hearing were upset by the remark and demanded an apology. -- Antara
