Convention bureau launched

JAKARTA (JP): Governor Surjadi Soedirdja yesterday announced
the establishment of a bureau, which will promote the development
of convention and congress businesses in the city.

The governor said at the 33rd meeting of the International
Convention and Congress Association (ICCA) in Bali that the
bureau, called the Jakarta Convention Bureau (JCB), is likely to
host the secretariat of the Indonesian Convention Association.

He was quoted by Antara as saying that the bureau is expected
to become a model for other cities frequented by foreign
tourists. (hdj)
