Contest for adolescents

JAKARTA (JP): This year's Adolescent Face Contest has
attracted 698 participants from Jakarta, the head of the
organizing committee, Iqbal Hamdy, said Saturday.

The committee would first select 20 semifinalists -- those who
showed the most creativity in making up their faces within 10
minutes, Hamdy said, without giving details of the dates.

Hamdy was quoted by Antara as saying that 10 finalists would
then be chosen to attend the grand final in Denpasar in December.

He said that the contest, sponsored by Matahari department
store group in cooperation with cosmetic company Revlon, was also
being held in six other cities -- Surabaya, Bandung, Denpasar,
Yogyakarta, Medan and Ujungpandang.

Hamdy said that the number of participants from Surabaya was
260, Bandung 409, Denpasar 215, Yogyakarta 265, Medan 298 and
Ujungpandang 245. (hhr)
