Consultancy firms merged

JAKARTA (JP): Five state-owned consultancy companies under the Ministry of Public Works have set up a consortium.

The five firms are Yodya Karya, Virama Karya, Indah Karya, Bina Karya, and Indra Karya.

The five firms' leaders said Tuesday the consortium was set up to combat increasingly tough competition among consultancy firm.

They were speaking before House Commission V for communications, transportation, public works, tourism and housing.

"As globalization will expose consultancy services to open competition with foreign firms, we need this alliance to survive," said Indah Karya president Soeharto. (bnt)
