Construction worker falls to death

JAKARTA (JP): A construction worker fell to his death from the 15th floor of Permata Executive Apartment project in Kebon Jeruk, West Jakarta, on Friday.

The victim, identified only as Sri, 40, apparently stepped on a unstable board on the roof structure of the building on Jl. Raya Pengumben.

An eyewitness, Tasmin, 26, said that Sri died instantly. "There was nothing I could do to save him because it happened so fast," he said.

Sri died from multiple injuries. His face was crushed and both his legs were broken. His body was taken to Cipto Mangunkusumo General Hospital for an autopsy.

In a separate incident, a woman apparently committed suicide by electrocuting herself.

Sri Sulasih, 46, was found dead at her residence in Bumi Nasiyo Housing Complex, Bekasi.

Although the cause of the suspected suicide remains unclear, some of the woman's relatives said she had been withdrawn recently and given to daydreaming.

Her body was also taken to Cipto Mangunkusumo for autopsy. (edt)
