Conductor killed over Rp 200 row

JAKARTA (JP): A bus conductor was stabbed to death after a quarrel over Rp 200 with three unofficial traffic wardens operating on Jl. I Gusti Ngurah Rai, Pondok Kopi, East Jakarta, police said Tuesday.

Ali Imran Nainggolan, 24, from Cakung, East Jakarta, was the conductor on a Metro Mini 47 bus plying between Senen and Pondok Kopi.

Quoting the driver, police said Ali gave Rp 300 to the three men as payment for helping the bus make a U-turn.

The three men demanded Rp 200 more but Ali refused. One of the men then boarded the bus and stabbed Ali twice in his chest and back, the driver said. He died later at Pondok Kopi Hospital.

The three men fled and were still at large on Tuesday.

Duren Sawit Police have questioned several local people who unofficially direct the traffic on the main road. (07)
