Concert for disaster victims

JAKARTA: A charity concert for the victims of this month's killer tidal wave will be held in the East Java city of Surabaya later this month, with dangdut star Rhoma Irama and popular preacher Zainuddin M.Z. topping the bill.

Head of the organizing committee Rosihan Kailinto Nurdin said the concert is sponsored by music journalists and artists.

The proceeds from the concert will be donated to the victims of the tidal waves which wiped out villages along the southeastern coast of Java on June 3.

Other performers slated to appear include Emilia Contessa, Atiek CB, Ita Purnamasari, Nini Carlina, Franky Sahilatua, Sawung Jabo, Jocky Surjoprajogo and Gito Rollies.

Minister/State Secretary Moerdiono, the patron of the concert, is expected to contribute a song, he said. (11)
