Concerned over taxis

On the evening of Tuesday, Dec. 6, at 8.30 p.m. my three friends and I waved down a President Taxi (No.345/B-2373 GX) on Jl. Mangga Dua.

Upon entering the taxi we announced our destination as Sarinah. We were informed that this would cost Rp 10,000. Almost double the meter price. We protested that this was unfair and he should use the meter.

Suddenly the driver became very angry and shouted at us, telling us to get out of his taxi. We asked him for his name and taxi number so we could report his conduct to President Taxi.

This was answered by more abuse and finally the driver waved a tire iron in our face.

We are not angry about his raising the price but we are shocked about his emotional outburst and violent reaction to our questions. The four of us will no longer be using President Taxi.
