Computer courses

There are a lot of computer courses in Jakarta. Some of them are being offered by Informatics, which has recently joined the crowd. Informatics is a franchise from the Informatics Group in Singapore.

I tried to check its website at http://www.informatics- iwm.com, based on advertisements, which I have noticed, appear quite frequently in the print media, only to find out that it contains no data and is under construction.

My main reason for visiting the website was to find out the programs offered by Informatics, which to my knowledge is quite popular in Singapore due to its quality and long experience. I also wanted to fulfill my curiosity as to why the franchise in Indonesia is located in Pondok Cabe, a rural area.

Having a computer background, friends of mine frequently come to me seeking advice on good computer courses to join. Being aware of the reputation of Informatics in Singapore, I have suggested that they try Informatics but most of them have turned down my suggestion because of their reluctance to travel the distance from the Sudirman and Kuningan areas to Pondok Cabe.

If Informatics is targeting employees, I don't think it will work by having its location in Pondok Cabe and if Informatics is targeting employees in its surrounding area, it won't work either because only a small percentage of employees work in that area.

In the future, Informatics should consider opening more branches, but not in rural areas. I believe its franchiser will render full support.

In the meantime, I think the frequent Informatics advertisements in the print media will not be effective, considering the above mentioned facts.
