Computer course burgled

JAKARTA (JP): Burglars broke into a Computer and English school on Jl. Diponegoro, in Central Jakarta yesterday making off with computers, tape recorders, air conditioners, clocks and filling cabinets worth Rp 20 million (US$8,403).

A Central Jakarta Police precinct officer said Mardi, a school employee, had reported the burglary.

Mardi found the door open in the morning when he arrived for work at the school owned by Asmarani B.M. Diah, 19.

"The thieves broke the front door, damaged the classroom partitions and stole the goods," the officer, who asked for anonymity, said.

He speculated that the thieves had used a truck to transport the stolen goods that night.

He said the courses had not run since the Ramadhan fasting month began.

Quoting another employee, the officer said the owner had planned to sell the goods and close the school. (jun)
