Complaints over marriage cost

BANYUMAS, Central Java: Gumelar district residents complained on Tuesday about the high cost of getting married as set by the local office of the Ministry of Religious Affairs (KUA).

In a meeting with Abas Rosyadi, a member of Banyumas legislative council, the people said they had to pay up to Rp 120,000 in marriage fees, four times higher than the official tariff of Rp 28,000.

"This is ridiculous, I will check why you must pay so much for your marriages," Abas said.

Head of Banyumas's KUA Atabik Yusuf refused to comment on the complaints. (45)
