Company donates 50,000 masks

JAKARTA: The health ministry received on Friday 50,000 masks provided by PT Johnson Home Hygiene to help the government fight the spread of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) in the country.

The masks were presented by the company's production manager, Achim Hupperts, to the ministry's secretary-general, Dadi S. Argadiredja.

Achim said 10,000 masks would go to the ministry and the rest would be distributed to hospitals in several cities, including Batam in Riau, Banyumas in Central Java, Dumai in Riau, and Manado in North Sulawesi.

The 50,000 masks are part of the 70,000 masks the company will distribute to places such as airports and seaports. -- JP
