Communism investigated

SEMARANG, Central Java: Diponegoro Military Command Chief Maj. Gen. Soeyono said that the authorities are still investigating rumors that some private universities had been infiltrated with communism.

"We cannot announce the people being investigated, but clearly there are indications about the infiltration," he told reporters.

He also said that there had been reports about lecturers who wrote for illegal publications.

The lecturers, he added, often received foreign publications with communist teachings and wrote for some foreign media with stories critical about the Pancasila state ideology. (har)
