Commodity program on TV

JAKARTA (JP): The Ministry of Industry and Trade has launched a TV program on price quotations for the country's major commodities to help farmers, small-scale producers and cooperatives get easy access to price information.

The broadcast, based on major commodity markets around the world, is broadcast every day in the early morning hours on state-owned television station TVRI, except for Sunday and Monday, according to a statement from the department office.

The major commodities covered by the program include coffee, chocolate, corn and rubber, according to the statement.

For coffee, the program refers to London International Financial Future and Options Exchange (LIFFE) in London, and for chocolate, it quotes the Coffee, Sugar and Cocoa Exchange (CSCE) in New York, the statement said.

Corn quotations are based on the Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) in Chicago and rubber on the Singapore Commodity Exchange (SICOM), it added. (udi)
