Comedian nabbed for drug abuse

JAKARTA: A comedian was arrested on Wednesday in a hotel in Kramat Jati, East Jakarta, for alleged drug abuse.

Kramat Jati Police detectives confiscated 0.6 grams of crystal methampetamine (known locally as shabu-shabu) from Brata Nugraha, whose stage name is Polo, a member of the Srimulat comic group.

In 2001, Polo was jailed for seven months at Cipinang Penitentiary for drugs.

The arrest was made based on a tip-off.

Polo was transferred to the Jakarta Police narcotics detention center on Thursday. -- JP
