Comedian Doyok to stand trial soon: Officer
JAKARTA (JP): The dossiers on comedian Doyok Sudharmaji, a self-confessed drug user, will soon be handed over to the Tangerang Prosecutor's Office, an officer said on Friday.
"We are working on it. It will be handed over to the court very soon," City police detectives chief of narcotics Lt. Col. Abdullah said.
He dismissed speculations that Doyok had not signed the dossiers.
"Doyok immediately signed the dossiers, after he confessed to being a (drug) user himself," he said.
As reported earlier, city police detectives arrested the comedian last Thursday at his house in the Lippo Karawaci area, Tangerang, after receiving a tip off from the public about his involvement in drugs.
"Police detectives raided Doyok's house and seized 2.5 grams of shabu-shabu (crystal methamphetamine) on a dressing table in the house," acting police spokesman Ass. Supt. Alex Mandalika said.
Separately, a media officer of private TV station Indosiar said on Friday that all TV advertisements featuring Doyok had been temporarily taken off the air, in connection with the investigation.
"Whether prime-time advertisements or non-prime-time advertisements, if they feature Doyok, they have been shelved temporarily," Gufron Sakaril of Indosiar said on Friday.
"Doyok leads a deviated lifestyle. He is sort of a superstar comedian for local people here, and he has taken drugs," Gufron said.
"Thousands of people emulate Doyok. We just hope that people do not follow his bad habits. I am sure that other TV stations will also agree to not featuring TV figures who could have very bad influence on TV watchers."
The drugs found at Doyok's residence were packed in five small packages, each contained 0.5 grams of shabu-shabu.
Alex said the comedian testified that he only owned 0.5 out of the 2.5 grams of shabu-shabu.
"The remaining two grams belonged to his accomplice Rizal Indra Krisna," he said, adding that the comedian also confessed to having obtained the drugs from Rizal.
Rizal was also arrested last Thursday, shortly after he left the comedian's house at 2.30 p.m. (ylt)
