Colonialism and small candy

Children of colonizers like RB Sawrey-Cookson are bold enough to expose only the glories of colonialism, at the expense of billions of atrocities which the colonizers inflicted on innocent people worldwide (July 22). The highbrow even forgot he's speaking in a country that is one of the worst victims of colonial domination in the world.

Does the man really want to prove more merits of colonialism than demerits? Obviously his attempt is just null and void, baseless, unfounded and of no effect. I pity people whose explanations fall on deaf ears.

Let readers understand it through this example. A person slaps an innocent person three times on the face. Realizing his wickedness he then apologizes and compensates with a small candy, just to cover it up. Imagine this is repeated three times intentionally. How would the victim feel? Is the small candy more important than the victim's dignity? Or could the candy be used to justify the slaps?

In the case of Africa, your British ancestors left in the name of independence but actually slipped back again through an invisible door. This door, probably the one they call "BBC World Service", misinforms the world of events in Africa.

Your claim of deterioration in Africa after the colonizers left cannot be justified because most African nations were doing fine politically and economically until the early 1980s,when the western conspiracy began to eat them up. Even today, there is a lot of exaggeration of Africa's problems which are actually normal issues.

Really, the Post is doing a good thing in allowing a debate on important subjects like colonialism. This is the only way its evils can be exposed. For example, in Africa, the natural resources were over-exploited so cleverly. The culture was destroyed and millions of our brethren were forced into slavery all in exchange for a few rail lines.

Let me say to the whole world that Africa would have been more developed if it hadn't had any contact with colonialists. But we're waiting for the precious day when future colonizers fall into our trap so that the truth will be revealed.
