'Cokelat Postmortem' released at Gramedia

YOGYAKARTA: A novel titled Cokelat Postmortem written by Gadjah Mada University (UGM) paleoantropologist and lecturer-turned- novelist Etty Indriati was launched at Gramedia bookstore here last weekend.

Speaking at the launch ceremony, Etty said that the novel was her first work of fiction and was written as science fiction with a murder case as its setting.

What is considered unique in this novel is the way the mystery of the murder case is revealed through the identification of bone remains, the area of expertise of the author.

"It is science fiction spiced with romance to make it more lively," said Etty, whose scientific publications have been published in numerous international journals in France, Japan, the U.S. and Australia.

The author of Anthropologi Forensik and Menulis Karya Ilmiah published by Gadjah Mada University Press and Gramedia Pustaka Utama respectively, Etty is also the recipient of numerous citations, including the Albert Dahlberg and Kenneth Holland awards and one for Women's International Science Collaboration (from the American Association for the Advancement of Science, New York).

She completed her undergraduate studies at the UGM school of dentistry and gained her doctorate in paleoanthropology at the University of Chicago. -- JP
