Coca-Cola announces lucky draw winners

JAKARTA (JP): Six lucky people from six different provinces each received a brand-new multipurpose car for winning the Olympic draw organized by a giant soft drink company.

PT Coca-Cola Indonesia announced the winners of the Opel Blazer cars, which it offered as part of its promotional campaign for the recently-concluded Olympic Games in Atlanta.

Coca-Cola, based in Atlanta, was the biggest sponsor of the Centennial Olympic Games.

The six winners, drawn live on private television station RCTI on Monday night, are Madi of Nganjuk, East Java, Ajat Sudrajat of Bandung, West Java, Sariyanto of Yogyakarta, Central Java, Adri Monutu of Minahasa, North Sulawesi, Basroh AIM of Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan and Sukarni Purwinto of Gresik, East Java.

The Indonesian arm of the Coca-Cola company had previously given away trips to watch the Games to Indraputra, a Jakarta resident, and Shofwaturrohman, a resident of Grobogan in East Java.

The soft drink company has recently agreed with the International Amateur Athletic Federation (IAAF) to extend their joint marketing program for a further eight years.

"We are delighted to renew this longstanding program with one of the most valuable partners of the IAAF and the world athletics movement," IAAF president Primo Nebiolo said in a statement at the just-concluded Olympic Games in Atlanta.

Nebiolo said it was the first time an IAAF sponsor had agreed to an eight-year commitment with the federation.

Neither the IAAF nor Coca-Cola would say how much the deal was worth. (arf).
