Co-ops in delivery service

JAKARTA (JP): Kopwi, a cooperative providing telecommunications services, agreed yesterday to join hands with PT Senawangi Wisamarta Utama, a subsidiary of the Humpuss Group, in a bid to expand services and boost technology transfer.

President of Senawangi, Ongki P. Sumarno, said after signing the memorandum of understanding that the program will allow the 2,000 telecommunications kiosks in Indonesia to provide express cargo delivery services with the assistance of Senawangi.

Kopwi Chairman, Roch Basoeki Mangoenpoerojo, said the program -- to be called "Wartel Ekspres" -- will use the facilities of Senawangi's "VIP Paket Antaran Penting" delivery services.

Both executives were reluctant to disclose the terms of the agreement and the revenue-sharing scheme, saying that they have yet to be negotiated.

Telecommunications kiosks currently provide telecommunications services, such as facsimile and long-distance telephone calls. (pwn)
