Closed banks' furniture auctioned
JAKARTA (JP): Auction firm PT Balai Lelang Indonesia (Balindo)
is displaying furniture belonging to closed banks under the
management of the Indonesian Bank Restructuring Agency.
The furniture will be offered to the public in a seven-day
auction beginning on Feb. 2.
The auction will feature some 20,000 pieces of office
furniture from privately owned Bank Umum Nasional, Bank Dagang
Nasional Indonesia, Bank Surya, Bank Servitia and Bank PSP. The
offices of all these banks are located in Greater Jakarta.
Balindo director Jusuf Arbianto said on Saturday the items
would be on display from Saturday to Tuesday.
"People can see the furniture at Soekarno-Hatta International
Airport's Graha Bandara promotion hall in Cengkareng, West
Jakarta.
"The furniture has an estimated value of Rp 3 billion
(US$428,600)," Jusuf told The Jakarta Post.
He said the auction was expected to attract some 3,500 people
from the business and education sectors, as well as private
purchasers. (06)
