'Close nightspots during fasting month'
KENDARI, Southeast Sulawesi: The local office of the Indonesian Ulemas Council (MUI) urged the provincial administration to temporarily close nightspots and entertainment centers during Ramadhan.
"We call on the provincial administration to bar nightspots and entertainment centers from opening during the fasting month to create a conducive atmosphere for local Muslims," Hamzah Mappa, chairman of the local office of MUI, said here on Friday.
He regretted that unlike other provinces, Southeast Sulawesi did not have any bylaw regulating nightspots and entertainment centers during Ramadhan.
