Close discos selling Ecstasy

From Berita Buana

Over this week the mass media has been running news items
about the seizure of Ecstasy pills by the authorities during
raids on Jakarta discos, where the drug was reportedly sold.

Disco-goers have long been users of Ecstasy, albeit not in
such an extravagant way as today. It can be said that the
majority of certain disco-goers are on this designer drug.
Ecstasy is easily available in those places. Visitors will be
readily served in covert ways.

Disco owners can always say that the drug is not available in
their establishments and that their venues have been misused by
drug traders. However, it is impossible that they are not aware
of the many Ecstasy sellers operating in the discos. I am certain
that the managers know what goes on. They should report it to the
authorities, but, as it is, they prefer to turn a blind eye to
the situation as it happens to be a profitable circumstance.

Visitors to discotheques are a source of money being poured
into their establishments.

It would be best if discos, which are obviously marketing
grounds for Ecstasy pills, should no longer be permitted to
operate before the younger generation gets totally stupefied.
