Clean up own backyard

It is ridiculous how Australians have behaved toward Indonesia in general after Corby was sentenced by the Denpasar District Court in Bali to 20 years. They are using emotions rather than brains in dealing with the matter.

Australians should clean up their own backyard first and catch the corrupt Australian airport official who planted the four kilograms of marijuana in Corby's luggage. He is responsible for the 20 year sentence. The court in Bali was just carrying out its duty.

Bali's prisons are crammed with foreigners who have been caught bringing drugs into Bali. The island is flooded with foreign and domestic tourists and therefore remains a lucrative drug market. In the 1980s, Malaysia hanged two Australians who smuggled drugs into their country.

Corby should be grateful that she was caught in Indonesia rather than Malaysia. Bali will survive without Australian visitors as the majority of tourists are the Japanese and now Chinese from mainland China who have only recently discovered the beauty of Bali and are now flocking to this exotic island.
