Clean and real democracy
I would like to contribute my thoughts -- how dare Australia take all the credit concerning East Timor.
I wonder how the Australian government (John Howard) can give all the credit to its armed forces for the freedom of East Timor, by saying, "it's because of Australian military personnel inside the United Nations forces securing East Timor that they have their freedom."
Why couldn't they appreciate the new Indonesian government (Abdurrahman Wahid) or at least give it some credit? Because we know that it was the new Indonesian government which withdrew from East Timor, acknowledging the mistake that it had made in the past by integrating the place, and because Indonesia, having a reform spirit, is to create a new, clean and real democracy.
