Classrooms collapse in Kulonprogo

KULONPROGO, Yogyakarta: Scores of students escaped injury after three classrooms collapsed at a school in Kulonprogo, Yogyakarta.

Titik Suryani, a teacher at Muhammadiyah Nanggulan junior high school here, said on Monday that the incident happened on Thursday last week when the school was closed ahead of Ramadhan. Titik said that she was attending a meeting in the staff room, when a loud sound came from the room next door.

She left the staff room immediately, and saw that the three rooms had collapsed, apparently due to their poor condition. -- JP
