Clarification from environment office

With respect to a news report titled Waste to be sent back to the Netherlands, specifically with regard to the import of the paper waste amounting to 20 40-foot containers, as published in The Jakarta Post on May 17, the Office of the State Minister for the Environment would like to give the following clarification:
* According to the bill of lading issued in Bremen, Germany, dated Feb. 2, the said waste came from the United Kingdom (Grosvenor Waste Management Limited, Century Wharf, Crayford Creek, Crayford, Kent DA 1 4 Qd, United Kingdom), through Rotterdam.
* Rotterdam was the "port of loading", not "the country of origin" of the said waste.
* As stated in the import documents for the consignment, imported waste must be returned to the waste's country of origin (not to the country where the loading is conducted) if it is not in conformity with the prevailing import stipulations.

General chronology:

The waste from the United Kingdom (Grosvenor Waste Management Ltd.) was dispatched to Germany.

In Germany, a German company undertook the packing and packaging of the waste into containers.

The containers containing the waste were later transported to Rotterdam Port aboard a "river vessel".

The containers were loaded onto the CSCL Felixstowe vessel in Rotterdam Port.

The CSCL Felixstowe departed for Jakarta and arrived at Tanjung Priok harbor.

RASIO RIDHO SANI, Assistant Deputy in charge of Information Office of the State Minister for the Environment

Note: Thank you for your clarification.
