Civil service tariff increased up to 330%

JAKARTA (JP): The municipality has increased the civil
administration tariff between 100 and 330 percent, particularly
for the service letters of expatriates and notification letters
on newcomers.

The decision, stipulated in the 1997 municipality decree No. 8
and based on the 1996 Civil Regulation on residential status
listing procedure, was effective as of June 1 of this year.

To file a report for new arrivals in the city, non-Jakartan
Indonesian citizens are charged Rp 5,000 (US$2.23) and new
expatriates Rp 20,000.

To obtain a letter for moving to another area, Indonesian
citizens are charged Rp 2,000 and expatriates Rp 10,000.

The fee for registering citizenship changes has increased from
Rp 30,000 to Rp 40,000. According to the new rule, expatriates
are now required to pay obituary and birth certificates.

Based on the decree, expatriates are obliged to pay Rp 25,000
to obtain permanent residence, or Rp 10,000 more than the
previous fee. Temporary residence certificates have also been
increased from Rp 10,000 to Rp 25,000.

Indonesians are charged Rp 2,000 and non-Indonesian citizens
Rp 10,000 for residential registration.

Identification cards for non-citizens increased from Rp 2,000
