Civil servants get the chop

TANGERANG: The Tangerang municipal administration announced on Monday the dismissal of 10 civil servants for various crimes and breaches of the regulations.

The administration's secretary, Harry Mulya Zain, revealed that Marsudin, a officer at the Paninggilan subdistrict office in Cileduk, was currently imprisoned for drugs-related offenses.

An officer at the Jatiuwung subdistrict office was dismissed for perforating the picture of a council candidate on 60 ballot papers before the April 5 legislative elections.

Most of the other civil servants were guilty of persistent absenteeism.

"This is part of our commitment to upholding the law and building clean government," Harry said. -- JP
