Civil servants fired for absenteeism

PALU, Central Sulawesi: Palu Mayor Suardin Suebo fired on
Wednesday 15 civil servants for excessive absenteeism and for
being active members of political parties.

The 15 civil servants consist of several elementary school
teachers, an employee of the Palu education office, employees of
the Palu Municipal Secretariat, employees of the Palu
Environmental Impact Management Body and employees of the Palu
Culture and Tourism Office.

Suardin said he was forced to dismiss the civil servants, 15
of over 6,000 in the municipality, after they ignored both oral
and written warnings.-- JP
