Civil servant nabbed for trafficking animals

SURABAYA: The police arrested three people, including a civil servant, for trafficking protected animals in Bengkulu province, an animal rights activist said on Tuesday.

During a raid earlier on Monday, the police also seized 36 protected animals of various species, said Rosek Nursahid, the chairman of ProFauna Indonesia, an animal rights group in Malang, East Java.

Among the animals were turtles, eagles and forest cats.
