City waits for overseas votes

JAKARTA (JP): The City Election Committee said it has received ballots from 108 overseas cities but is still waiting for mailed- in votes from Jakarta residents abroad.

The committee has so far received 816,150 Jakarta City Council votes from overseas voters, up from 602,182 votes on Monday.

As of 2:41 p.m. yesterday, the United Development Party (PPP) had 51,657 City Council votes from overseas votes, Golkar 749,499 and the Indonesian Democratic Party (PDI) 14,994.

The overseas' provisional results and the final tally from the city's five mayoralties bring the number of City Council votes to 5,811,312.

Provisional results for the City Council, including overseas votes, show Golkar with 3,546,302 votes, PPP 2,152,607, and PDI 112,403 votes.

The final tally from 1,781,614 overseas voters is expected to be known by June 14. (ste)
