City to vacate hospital soon

JAKARTA: Following Wednesday's storm that ripped off the roof of city-owned Budhi Asih Hospital in Cawang, East Jakarta, the Jakarta administration now plans to vacate the dilapidated building.

"We don't want the incident to be repeated in the future. That's why we plan to expedite our schedule to vacate the old building," Jakarta deputy governor Fauzi Bowo told reporters at City Hall.

Fauzi did not detail the exact date, but he said the move would be conducted "soon this month," or one month ahead the initial schedule in January next year.

The new location was just in front of the old building on Jl. Otto Iskandardinata.

Dozens of patients, mostly dengue fever sufferers, were moved to Pasar Rebo Hospital, Persahabatan Hospital, Cipto Mangunkusumo General Hospital and Fatmawati hospital, after the part of hospital's roof fell apart on Wednesday. --JP.
