City to summon ad agency over billboard

JAKARTA (JP): The city administration urged yesterday the
advertising agency be held responsible for a billboard collapsing
in East Jakarta Sunday. One person died and four were hurt in the
accident.

Vice governor in charge of economic and development affairs
TB. M. Rais said a municipality billboard supervising team would
summon the advertising agency who erected the billboard.

"The city government approved the erection of the billboard.
That's true. But the strength of the construction itself has not
yet been checked," Rais said.

On Sunday a fatal windstorm blew the 120 meter by 30 meter
billboard, which was in the Ramayana Department Store's car park,
into the Rawabening shopping complex in Jatinegara.

The falling billboard killed cigarette vendor Rohendi (17),
and injured Budiman (45), Firman (34), Dedi (12), and Suprilatun
(44).

On the same day wind hit the Radio Muara FM station's antenna
in East Jakarta killing three people. The three were Robino
Irawan, 47, of Bandung, West Java, Ngadinem, also 47, of
Rawamangun, East Jakarta, and Erwin, 16, of Kebayoran Baru, South
Jakarta.

A big tree which was uprooted on Sunday still blocked Jl.
Patal Senayan, South Jakarta yesterday afternoon as people worked
to cut the tree trunk.

A Meteorology and Geophysics Agency forecast indicated more
strong storms would hit parts of Indonesia until the end of the
year. (02)
