City to send warrant to Sahid Jaya

JAKARTA: The City Revenue Agency (Dispenda) is to issue a warrant on July 20 to force Sahid Jaya hotel to settle its tax arrears of Rp 18.88 billion (US$2.3 million).

"We'll send the warrant on July 20," head of the agency Deden Supriadi said on Tuesday.

The hotel will have 16 days to settle its arrears, after which the agency will send a warrant to confiscate their assets.

Since July 1, the agency has sent 24 warrants to 24 restaurants, hotels and amusement centers that have overdue taxes, giving them 16 days each to settle their debts.

Deden said that if the institutions failed to settle in time, the agency would seize their assets for 60 days.

After the two-month period, the institutions will have to deal directly with the city prosecutor's office, he said.

"Dealing with the prosecutor's office means the case will no longer be about tax arrears, but embezzlement, since they have extorted money that was to have been submitted to the state," he said as quoted by beritajakarta.com. -- JP
