City protests to regency over dump

BEKASI: Bekasi municipality administration strongly protested to neighboring Bekasi regency for dumping its waste in Mustikajaya subdistrict, Bekasi municipality, since last month.

"We have protested to Bekasi Regent Saleh Manaf for illegally turning part of our territory into their dump," said Bekasi municipality spokesman Cecep Sutandi on Monday, adding that the regent had yet to respond.

He claimed that the regency dump truck drivers had started to dump daily waste in Mustikajaya subdistrict after the regent closed down Burangkeng dump last month. He also said that angry residents planned to sue Bekasi regency administration.

Sudjoko, a resident, condemned the regent decision before he set up an alternative to replace Burangkeng. -- Antara
