<p>City police recruitment</p><p> JAKARTA (JP): The city police are offering the opportunity for
Indonesian youths to be recruited and trained as noncommissioned
police officers for the 2000-2001 school calendar year, an
official said over the weekend.</p><p>"The registration and recruitment period will last from Feb. 1
until Feb. 29, 2000," City police spokesman Lt. Col. Zainuri
Lubis told reporters in his office on Saturday.</p><p>"The candidates must be Indonesian citizens who are physically
and mentally healthy," he said as quoted by Antara news agency as
saying.</p><p>"They must not wear spectacles, either."</p><p>He said the candidates must be over 18 years old and less than
20 years old in July 2000, when the training programs will begin.</p><p>Lubis added that male candidates must be 163 centimeters in
height or above, while female candidates must be 160 centimeters
or above.</p><p>"Exceptions are for male and female candidates whose high
school final examination (NEM) results have an average of 7," the
official said.</p><p>The police spokesman said entrance tests will include
administrative screening; parade performance evaluations at
regional and national levels; health, physical and mental
evaluations; as well as psychological and academic assessments.</p><p>"Any interested youths should register directly at the city
police headquarters' personnel department on Jl. Jenderal
Sudirman No. 55 in South Jakarta," he said.</p><p>"They must bring their original elementary school, junior high
school and senior high school diplomas. And if they possess them,
they can also bring their original college and undergraduate
diplomas."</p><p>"They must also show their original birth certificates, bring
four copies of a 4x6 black-and-white photograph, their identity
cards and a police recommendation of good conduct," Lubis added.
