City military police has new chief
JAKARTA (JP): Jakarta Military Commander Maj. Gen. Djadja Suparman installed Col. Mungkono Mursidi on Thursday as the new commander of the city military police (Pomdam Jaya), replacing Col. Hendardji.
The installation was conducted in a modest ceremony at Pomdam Jaya's headquarters on Jl. Guntur in South Jakarta.
Speaking in front of around 100 attendees, Djadja said the military police had the authority to enforce the law among the personnel of the Armed Forces and the police.
"So military police personnel have to become good models for all people in conducting their duties and enforcing the law," Djadja said.
Djadja ordered Mungkono, former director of the criminal investigation division of the military police, not to change policies initiated by his predecessor.
"The new commander should not make any new policies if he is not sure whether it will be appropriate," he said after the ceremony.
Commenting on security preparations for the upcoming general election, Djadja said it was the responsibility of the police.
The military will support the police if they are asked, he said.
Hendardji's new assignment is director of military police investigation. (01)
