City Hall bans office guide book
The city administration has banned a book entitled Jakarta Office Building Guide 1994," which is published by a private firm, on the grounds that the book is misleading.
"The book was not published with the permission of my office, as the publisher claimed, so it cannot be used as an official guide book," said Soesila Darmoadji, a spokesman for City Hall.
According to Soesila, the city administration decided to ban the book because its publisher violated the code of ethics on publication. Specifically, the book fallaciously listed a number of city officials as its patrons, including Governor Surjadi Soedirja.
"The publisher used the officials' names without their consent," he added.
"Hence, I declare that the book to be illegal and appeal to anyone who has the book to submit it to us," Soesila said.
Soesila said the city administration secretary Harun Al Rasyid had instructed him to take legal action against the publisher. (arf)
