City gets new Brimob chief
JAKARTA (JP): City police chief Insp. Gen. Sofjan Yacoeb installed Sr. Comr. Beno Gelapang on Tuesday as the Jakarta Police's Mobile Brigade (Brimob) chief, replacing Sr. Comr. Bambang Krishermanto.
Jakarta Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Anton Bachrul Alam said the change was made due to a need to refresh Brimob's structure internally. At the same time, Krishermanto was promoted as head of the National Police's training and education center with a new rank of brigadier general.
The new Brimob chief, Beno, was previously commander of regiment II of the National Police's bomb squad (Gegana) based in Kelapa Dua, East Jakarta, Anton said. (emf)
