City Council summons a developer

JAKARTA: The city council failed to meet with developer Mitra Prima Sejahtera to seek clarification over an alleged violation that it began constructions for an apartment building in Puri Kembangan, West Jakarta, without the necessary documents.

Ali Imran, deputy chairman of the council's commission D on development, revealed on Wednesday that the developer had built the foundation for the apartment, although the company did not have any permits to the land.

"This is the second summons and the firm has so far failed to show, nor have they provided any reasonable excuse for their failure to come," said Ali, adding the council would send a notification letter to the governor over the violation.

Ali also said the firm had allegedly attempted to avoid installing obligatory public facilities in the building, as it had proposed to build a building of only 3,000 square meters, but in actuality, it had used 9,000 square meters.

According to city regulations, a building which is erected on any plot of land measuring over 5,000 square meters is required to construct facilities for public use.--JP
