Cisadane express train launched

TANGERANG: Banten governor Djoko Munandar launched the Cisadane Express commuter train at Pasar Anyer railway station in Tangerang municipality on Monday morning.

The new four-car train will travel between Pasar Anyer station and Dukuh Atas railway station on Jl. Jend. Sudirman in Central Jakarta with a fare of Rp 5,000.

The train will leave Pasar Anyer station at 7:30 a.m., stop at Poris station at 7:39, stop at Rawa Buaya station at 7:45, stop at Tanah Abang station at 8:10 and arrive at Dukuh Atas station at 8:15 every morning.

In the afternoon the train will leave Dukuh Atas station at 5:30 p.m., stop at Tanah Abang station at 5:35 p.m., stop at Rawa Buaya station at 6 p.m., stop at Poris station at 6:08 p.m. and arrive at Pasar Anyer station at 6:16.

PT Kereta Api Indonesia spokesman Zainal Abidin said that the commuter train, which cost US$30 million to produce, was the second train to be produced by PT Industri Kereta Api Indonesia in Madiun, East Java.

The first train was launched in March, serving stations between Serpong and Dukuh Atas twice a day.

"We hope the railway service could be extended until Lebak and Merak in Banten because trains are faster and cheaper than buses. Therefore, we will try to extend the railway access to Banten," Djoko said.--JP
