Cirebon accepts 20 prisoners

The Cirebon prison received 20 prisoners on Friday, relocated from the Cipinang prison in Jakarta after a violent clash there recently.

The prisoners left Jakarta on Wednesday under tight security and arrived at their new home on Friday morning.

Sardi, a guard at the Cirebon jail, said the prisoners were quarantined before being put into a special cell to avoid any possible clash with other inmates.

"The prisoners were moved here because the Cipinang prison is too overcrowded," he said.

He said that the facility would accept any prisoners, but strict measures would be taken against anyone involved in brawls. --Antara
