Cipayung families want more for land
JAKARTA (JP): Families from the Cipayung district in East Jakarta sought Council help for the second time yesterday for compensation for a toll road project.
Compensation for land taken for the eastern ring road project which runs from the Beautiful Indonesia in Miniature Park to Cikunir is offered at Rp 302,500 (US$126.57) per square meter for people who can prove ownership and Rp 423,000 per square meter for buildings.
Residents wanted Rp 500,000 and Rp 900,000 respectively instead of the offered amounts, due to the increase in land prices in the area.
The first amounts were set in a decree dated Oct. 14, 1996 by East Jakarta Mayor Soedarsono.
A four-man delegation representing 204 families submitted a letter signed by 142 residents to the Council, asking that Governor Surjadi Soedirdja review the decree.
M. Banang, a member of Commission A for administrative affairs, said the government should not impose the compensation amounts but should involve residents in the negotiations.
The city's revenue office estimates land prices in the Cipayung district ranged from Rp 82,000 to Rp 614,000 per square meter.
The list showed land prices in the Setu subdistrict range from Rp 82,000 to Rp 200,000 per square meter, while reports said land prices there reached Rp 450,000.
Mayor Soedarsono said the mayoralty would not increase the compensation because the people had already agreed to the amount at a meeting in November. (11)
