Chopper remains, bodies located

BANDUNG: The bodies of all three people aboard an N-Bell 412 helicopter which crashed in the Gedongan area of Mount Burangrang have been evacuated and buried at their respective hometowns.

The chopper, carrying pilot Bobby, co-pilot Sucahyo Wahyu and helicopter mechanic Hendri Jatmiko, flopped due to bad weather and thick fog on its way to Bandung from Semarang on Feb. 8.

After almost two weeks of searching, the joint rescue team comprising search and rescue officials, members of the police, the military, mountain-climbers and local residents located the wreckage of the aircraft on Wednesday morning.

The helicopter debris was spotted by training pilot Capt. Semed and Capt. Andriadi during a test flight in Kalijati area, Subang around 8:45 a.m. Wednesday.

"The bodies of Sucahyo and Wahyu had already decomposed while Bobby's body remained intact at the time at which they were discovered," a paramedic conducting the postmortem examination said. (25/edt)
