JAKARTA (JP): The works of Chopin, one of the greatest musical masterpieces, will fill in the air at the Dharmawangsa hotel in South Jakarta, this weekend.

The Nusantara Symphony Orchestra, formerly known as the Nusantara Chamber Orchestra, will perform the Chopin recitals on May 6 and May 7, sponsored by the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Jakarta.

After Beethoven, Chopin is considered as the greatest revolutionary in the music of the first half of the 19th century, according to Krzysztof Szumski, the ambassador.

Nusantara Chamber Orchestra was established in 1988 under the auspices of Nusantara Jaya foundation led by Mochtar Kusuma- Atmadja, former Minister of Foreign Affairs. It began with 16 players of string instruments with Yazeed Djamin as conductor and music director. Today, it has 70 musicians. (sim)
