Choosing a good university

I read with interest your report in the Sunday, May 19 edition of the Jakarta Post on international education available in Jakarta. One fact reported was that the University of East London -- established in 1999 and represented here by Sedaya University -- is one of the top 20 universities in the UK. However, The Times' Good University Guide 2002 ranks the University of East London as No. 96 out of the 97 reviewed.

Your erroneous report might persuade parents to send their children to Sedaya University, but with their partner university in the UK being almost the worst one, they would probably regret it. If they want their children to receive British education here in Jakarta, it is by far better to go to Universitas Indonusa Esa Unggul, where their partner university, the University of Wales, ranks 29.

Some advice to parents: Check all information carefully, and get the facts straight before sending your offspring to any university in the world.
